LUC Outreach Foundation is returning to Holy Names High School in Lesotho for our 2010/11 construction project.
In addition to making a 5-year commitment to establish, fund and train support staff for the Monyetla an HIV/AIDS testing, education and support program, we’ll be doing plenty of construction work as well! This time we will:
- Build a bridge over the nearby donga (ravine, pictured above) which will spare students from walking the extra 7 miles to get to school during the rainy season
- Add moveable partitions to the hall completed in 2009 to increase its utility and flexibility
- Erect a new fence around the perimeter of the school to minimize petty crime and ensure student safety
- Expand the chicken coop as well as the chicken population, as eggs are a critical revenue source for the school
